What Can You Do Here?

Federal Metal offers a variety of positions for both new and experienced manufacturing personnel. Below are the primary roles that are available in our production operations.

Material Processing
Receiving

Unload inbound material from trucks. Involved in the weighing, labeling, inspection and movement of purchased scrap metal.

Material Processing
Briquetting

Inspect materials and operate machines to densify material for charging into our furnaces. Material handling and tagging, as well.

Material Processing
Sorting

Identify, sort and segregate a broad range of non-ferrous materials by grade and value to support efficient recycling operations.

Material Processing
Cutting/Shearing

Reduce the size of larger material by operating a saw and/or shear to better prepare material for melting and/or shipment.

Material Processing
Order Picking

Utilize forklifts and “pick lists” to locate and gather specific materials in prescribed amounts for upcoming foundry heats.

Foundry
Helping

Work on a production crew to assist melters with the set up, charging, melting, alloying and pouring processes in our foundry.

Foundry
Melting*

Key production position operating and monitoring gas-fired and coreless induction furnaces safely and efficiently according to requirements. Leadership role.

Shipping
Material Handling

Safely and efficiently transport finished goods onto outbound trucks while ensuring accurate, timely movement of material.

Cleaning

Operate and maintain blast clean equipment as part of the process to turn semi-finished products into finished goods.

Stacking

Inspect semi-finished goods and stack acceptable ingot onto pallets according to customer requirements. Opportunity to punch out early once standard is met.

Finishing and Inventory Control

Involved in applying stretch film, weighing and properly tagging the ingot according to customer requirements.

Utility

Assist the shipping team wherever needed across the department in multiple areas.

Production

Several material handling, machine operation and other roles related to processing and recycling end-of-life aluminum copper radiators.
